Just before Christmas London’s NFT hosted a screening and Q&A attended by Lawrence Gordon Clark and Reece Shearsmith, among others. It was wonderful to see the acclaimed veteran and young acolyte discussing their varying – and sometimes similar – approaches to the ghost story. Apologies for the poor ‘phone pic but here they are together. And today Reece had this to say about The Christmas Ghost Stories of Lawrence Gordon Clark, published by Spectral Press: “Lawrence Gordon Clark is the man who single-handedly realised that most wonderful BBC tradition, the Ghost Story for Christmas. His adaptations of M.R. James are unsurpassed studies in creeping terror. As a fan, this treasure of a book is an absolute must.” Can’t say fairer than that.
