It was fun to be part of a Critics’ Panel at Derby Film Festival last weekend and to agree with colleagues Adam Batty and Scott Jordan Harris that a well-informed and passionate reviewer still has relevance in these fast-moving times. It’s getting harder to see films and harder still to offer an objective opinion when enthusiastic, wide-eyed blogger pups are queuing up to be impressed by the latest Marvel cartoon flick. But it was generally agreed that film reviewing is still pertinent – and considered opinions even more so. Read a review of the event here.
