Through Reel Solutions I organised several guest appearances at last week’s Derby Film Festival (DFF). Among the film folk who attended was Jenny Agutter, star of An American Werewolf in London, The Railway Children, Logan’s Run and, more recently, the hit TV show Call the Midwife.
I’ve worked with Jenny several times. She was a guest at the 11th Bradford Film Festival in 2005, at which she received a Lifetime Achievement Award. And she returned to Bradford in 2008, for the Fantastic Films Weekend and in 2010 for a special reunion screening (with co-stars Bernard Cribbins and Sally Thomsett) of The Railway Children.
Our colleagues at Derby were keen to host Jenny and play some of her films from a 50-year career. So the invitation was sent and the lady herself agreed to appear. The highlight was a Q&A session which ended with the presentation of DFF’s Hero of Cinema award.
