Unexpected thrill of the day today was being invited to watch a performance of Brian Daniels’ play Where’s Your Mama Gone? at the Viaduct Theatre in Halifax.
It’s a searing piece about anger and grief set against the backdrop of the Yorkshire Ripper’s killing spree in the 1970s. The focus is on twins Steven and Carol and the murder of their mother. The names have been changed but the play is about the murder of Wilma McCann, the Ripper’s first victim, and what happened to her young family afterwards.
It was a privilege to be asked to see it. Bravo to Brian for tackling a tricky subject with such sensitivity.
