Illustrated Lectures

photo-24I have a repertoire of illustrated lectures that have been presented at venues all over England and Wales, and in the United States. From London’s National Film Theatre to the Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff to the Sherlockian conference “From Gillette to Brett III” in Bloomington, Indiana, audiences have heard me speak on Richard Burton, Steve McQueen, Peter Cushing, Stanley Baker, Eric Portman, the making of Jacques Tourneur’s Night of the Demon (based on my book Beating the Devil) and the history of filmmaking in Yorkshire (inspired by my book Made in Yorkshire).

Read on for details of my various lectures. Aside from working the cinema circuit I also regularly address Rotary clubs, retired men’s forums, various community groups, care home residents and charities such as the RNLI.

I have also guest lectured at University of Huddersfield, Leeds Trinity University, Sheffield Hallam University, York St John University, University of Bradford, Leeds Beckett University, Edge Hill University and Bradford College.
